Head south first as you wing your way towards the airport. Turn left onto the famous 309 Road as you head into some of our beautiful native bush and established pine forests. Keep an eye out for Stu and his wild pigs (they have the right of way!) as they meander across the 309 Road. Next stop is the quirky Waterworks theme park along with their very own Wet Your Whistle Cafe. In an exclusive deal for Bush e Bike's riders entry is reduced to $10 per person (down from $25, conditions apply).
The track to the iconic Castle Rock is just a few hundred metres past the Waterworks and is a separate 6km return trip through Earnslaw Forest. While a reasonable climb, the road surface is good and the views are fantastic, not to mention the achievement factor! (Access may be affected by logging at particular times of the year).
Return to The 309 and consider a slightly longer trip of another 3kms further along to the beautiful Waiau Kauri Grove. This requires a 30 minute return walking trip but is well worth the effort. The spectacular Waiau waterfall is located just off the road and adds another awesome memory to your visit.
Head back towards Town and dine at the Coromandel Oyster Company for some tasty local delicacies.
We will provide map, helmet, bike lock and hi visibility vest.
